dinosaur birthday party

I hardly know a little kid that doesn’t like dinosaurs. As an adult, I love them too. So I was so excited when P decided he wanted a dino-themed birthday party.

Favor Bags

I saw this great idea on Pinterest for dino favor bags and created my own T-Rex skull version. I really love these favor bags!

Favor Swag

I hate useless favor swag. I hate when P brings it home and I hate giving it to my friend’s kids so they too have something to throw away the week after the party. So for these bags, I (hopefully) included toys they could use to learn and play. So I included dinosaurs fossils, dig it up dino eggs, and dino egg puzzles (see picture above.)

Decor

So many choices for dino decorating!

There’s so much dinosaur decor it is overwhelming, but fun! I bought this great decoration set from Amazon. I supplemented with these fun blow-up dinosaurs toys, links are next to each dino. P has spent years playing with them, so they were worth the money as both decor and toy. For the balloons, I used balloon tape to create the balloon swag.

The Cake & Cupcakes

Because we were still in the midst of the pandemic, there is no blowing out candles on an entire cake (a habit I’ve continued since I think people blowing spit all over cakes is pretty unsanitary). We offered both cakes or cupcakes. The cupcakes I made and decorated with a star tip in a piping bag filled with green icing. Included in the dino decorations I linked above were these cute dino cupcakes toppers. For the cake, we kept it simple. The store had a great beach-themed cake. All see needed to do was add some plastic dinos. Boom, done!

I absolutely loved doing this dino-themed party. I hope you got some good ideas from the post. Please let me know in the comments below what you think.
